Description
Nederlands: Beschrijving T Verbeeterhuijs van agteren

Lijnbaansgracht ter hoogte van de Weteringpoort, gezien in zuidelijke richting, met rechts de achterzijde van het Verbeterhuis. Het Verbeterhuis, een inrichting voor mannen en vrouwen van ontuchtig gedrag en 'zij, die niet wel bij 't hoofd zijn' heeft dienst gedaan tot 1830 en is vermoedelijk kort daarna gesloopt. Het stond ter plekke van de huidige panden Weteringschans 131-141. Deze aan Hendrik Tavenier (1734-1807) toegeschreven tekening en een tweede, gesigneerde en 1784 gedateerde tekening (KOG, Atlas J. van Eck) gaan terug op enkele tekeningen van Caspar Philips Jacobsz. uit 1767 (zie afbeeldingsbestand 010055000405).
