Notes
  • The Bullant Pavilion of the Tuileries Palace (on the left) is shown with a double-peaked roof, concealed after 1608 [by the construction of the Pavillon de Flore] (Fonkenell 2004, p. 309, note 8).
  • The Petite Galerie of the Louvre (on the right) is shown partially constructed, to just below the tops of the windows of the ground floor. This painting is reproduced by Fonkenell in figures 13 & 14 (detail) and cited as evidence that the traditionally accepted date of 1576 for the completion of the Petite Galerie (based on the 1576 plan engraved by Androuet du Cerceau) may be too early (Fonkenell 2004, pp. 25, 27).
