Description
Nederlands: Er worden door de aanbrenger documenten, items en foto's voorgelegd van de grootoom van zijn vrouw, Beyens Johan "John" Baptist, een vuurkruiser die afkomstig was uit Deurne. Hij heeft alle documenten gekregen van zijn zoon, Leo Beyens, die alles heel goed bewaard had.

Bij de items behoort ook een geldbeugel met als opschrift 'Yser Noël', een kerstgeschenk van koningin Elisabeth in 1916. Het was een geschenkje bestemd voor alle soldaten.

Ook worden enkele zijden hoofddoekjes voorgelegd uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog : hierop omringen vlaggen van Groot-Brittanië, de Dominions en de Geallieerden een patriottisch vers door Harold Begbie dat voor het eerst gepubliceerd werd in de Londense Daily Chronicle in 1915...door de Engelsen werden het 'presents for the sweathaert' genoemd. Waarschijnlijk betreft het geschenkjes die de soldaten meenamen als ze verlof kregen.

John Beyens durfde het getoonde scheermes later niet echt te gebruiken omdat het van Duitse fabricatie was.

Alle postkaarten zijn afkomstig uit de privéverzameling van de heer Bouvin.

De getoondee manchetteknopen zijn afkomstig van Johan Beyens. Men kan aan de kleuren (rood - wit - groen) zien van welk deel in Duitsland ze afkomstig zijn.
