Description
English: Hermann Geiger 1958 freeing most likely an ibex in the mountains. In the background a Bell 47J can be seen. Picture likely taken in the Engadin area, as there is a related image concerning the airfield of Samedan.
Helicopter HB-XAU (s/n: 1426) came to Switzerland in 1957 and was a gift to the Swiss Air Ambulance (then Schweizerische Lebensrettungsgesellschaft) from Coop Basel, a Swiss retail company, on 14th of March 1957. It flew with the Swiss Air Ambulance until July 1965, when it went to AECS Wallis. From 1968 it flew with Heliswiss and crashed into a fjord at Fiskenaess/Greenland on June 11th, 1971.
