Summary[edit]

Description
English: St Giles' parish church, Holme, Nottinghamshire: tomb of the merchant John Barton (died 1491) and his wife Isabella. According to the church guide, based on a booklet by Nevil Truman, who was responsible for the church restoration begun in 1933, it is likely that the tomb was carved in John Barton’'s lifetime, and that the effigies are likenesses. The corpse below is a reminder of mortality.
