| Description |
English: Holt Methodist Church. Decorated for the festive season. The view is across Norwich Road (B1149), through branches of the Christmas tree beside High Street. See 618413 for a daylight view. William Cozens-Hardy of Letheringsett Hall donated the site and the funds required for erecting this church, which was built in 1862-3 to the design of Thomas Jekyll. Holt is a rural Norfolk town with a market place, and a High Street lined by interesting Georgian houses and cottages, pubs and tearooms as well as unusual shops. It is also well-known for its fine Christmas decorations: once the Christmas Lights are switched on, the Christmas shoppers that are populating the streets and pavements of this busy town are joined by almost as many photographers. |
