Holy Trinity church in Long Melford - monument
Description Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford, Suffolk, south side of chancel, monument with recumbent effigy of Sir w:William Cordell (c.1522-1581), of Melford Hall, lawyer, landowner, administrator and politician who held high offices under both the Catholic Queen Mary I and the Protestant Queen Elizabeth I. Sir William Cordell was Master of the Rolls and was also responsible for the construction of Melford Hall. His monument was designed by Cornelius Cure, master mason to the crown.
