Summary[edit]

Description
English: Hotels - no longer with unwilling guests These two hotels in North Street stand on the site of the late C18 Cardigan gaol which was built by John Nash. It was closed in 1880 and the right hand section (now The Highbury Hotel, Cadw listed building 10496) was converted to a police station, then rebuilt in 1898 as two villas. The hotel on the left (Stanley House, Cadw listed building 10495) was converted in 1880 from the prison governor's house. Traces of Nash's original architecture can be seen in both buildings.
