Nach der Anprobe ist dann das Korsett zusammenzunähen. Die Nähte werden in den Biegungen mit Einschnitten versehen, ausgestrichen und festgesteppt. Dann hat man über den Nähten, an den breiten Teilen auch noch in der Mitte längs der Teile schräge Stoffstreifen zum Halten der Stäbe aufzusteppen. Viele steifen nur vorn, seitlich und rückwärts je eine Naht mit Stäben, die übrigen mit fester, jedoch nicht zu starker Schnur, die in 3-4 Reihen dicht nebeneinander liegend unter einem Schrägstreifen aufgesteppt wird. Die Nähte der Brustteile hat man ebenfalls mit Schnur zu steifen, ebenso die der Hüftkeile, die für starke Hüften oft erforderlich sind.

Die Stäbe werden vielfach mit lang ausgreifenden Zierstichen aus Seide, die nicht den Stab, sondern nur an seinem Abschluß die doppelte Stofflage fassen, festgehalten, oder man hält sie auch durch ein paar Steppstiche. Praktisch ist es, an starken Hüften die Hüftstäbe durch kleine, dem Steppstreifen eingefügte Schlitze einzuschieben, damit sie öfter erneuert werden können; denn bekanntlich nehmen die Stäbe des Korsetts beim Tragen nach und nach die Wölbungen des Körpers an, wodurch sie die starken Linien oft noch hervorheben. In diesem Falle müssen die Stäbe durch neue ersetzt werden. Schließlich sind dann die oberen und unteren Ränder des Korsetts mit festem Leinenband einzufassen; der obere ist beliebig zu garnieren.
