Text Appearing Before Image: y 2, 1854, a son of Anson Call andAnn Mariah Bowen Call. At the timeof Israels birth, his father had chargeof the settlement of Millard Countyand for this reason !iis family wasthere. In the fall of 1854, when Is-rael was about seven weeks old, thefamily moved to Calls Fort, Box El-der Co., Utah, to again assist in thefounding of a new settlement. Twoyears later the family was moved tohelp settle Carson Valley, but return-ed the following spring, to Bountiful,their former home. Again in 1858 theywere moved to Calls Fort where theyremained until 1860. At this time, An-son Call having sold his interest in BIOGRAPHICAL ENCYCLOPEDIA 123 the Fort, returned to Bountiful wherethe family remained until the childrenwere matured. After attending the schools at Boun-tiful, Israel, in 1874, studied in theUniversity of Deseret, which at thattime was held in the old Council Housewith only three teachers. In Decem-ber 1874, he married Medora White,daughter of John S. and AdelaideWhite of Farmington.

Text Appearing After Image: President Young having called himto go to Arizona with Lot Smith tohelp settle that country, he and hiswife and one child, started on theirjourney, Feb. 2, 1876. After a hardtrip they arrived at Sunset Crossingon the Little Colorado River, March24, 1876. Agreeable to the instructions ofPres. Young these Arizona settlers en-tered into the United Order, but thecompany broke up in the summer of1884. In 1880 (June 11th), Brother Callmarried Jane Lucinda Judd Knight,the daughter of Hyrum and LisaniaJudd and the widow of Joseph Knight. In the early spring of 1885, whenthe agitation against polygamy arose,he left both his families at Sunset sothat the children could attend school,and went to Old Mexico. There he re- mained until August, when he return-ed to Salt Lake City in order to seekmedical aid for his wifes eyes. Heleft his wife, Jane, and her family atSunset and took his wife, Medora andfamily to Bountiful. Apostle Erastus Snow, who hadcharge of the settlement of Arizona,told him that
