Summary[edit]

Description
English: Incline-like structure next to Ceunant Mawr This is obviously a man made feature, but I have failed to find any reference to it on any historical or present day maps. There are no mines or quarries in the vicinity, nor is there a continuation of the track beyond the top of the slope. PS I'm grateful to David Howarth for finally solving the puzzle. He points out that the structure is described and illustrated in I.C.Boyd's "Narrow Gauge Railways in North Wales" Vol.3 (Oakwood Press ISBN 0-85361-328-1). It appears that it was a temporary tramway constructed c.1906 by the North Wales Power and Traction Co Ltd for the purpose of bringing over the hills the equipment to construct a 3-phase power line from the power station at nearby Cwm Dyli to a construction base at Garnedd.
