| Description |
English: This is an Intel Pentium 4 640. It was made in 2004, uses the LGA775 socket, has a clock speed of 3.2 GHz and 2M of L2 cache. It also supports hyper threading and has an S-spec of SL7Z8. Indium solder was used between the die and the heat spreader.
This chip is one of the very first chips I opened up, I was not as good at preventing scratches to the die back then. The colours in this picture are quite disappointing, but the details are very good. Some chips do not show as many colours under the ring light. In the past I have had a lot of trouble in getting pictures of this chip to render properly, this is by far the best one yet. If you view this image from a desktop browser you can see several annotations I left on the image indicating what certain parts of the chip do.
