Summary[edit]
DescriptionInterior of a South Australian Railways 'Bluebird' railcar (250 class second-class passenger power car).jpg |
English: Interior of a 'Bluebird' railcar (250 class second-class passenger power car) which the South Australian Railways introduced in the 1950s. The direction of seats in this 250 class power car was easily changed by pulling or pushing the grips show so that passengers could choose the direction and combination they preferred for their long country journeys. In the 100 class non-power cars, second-class seating was the same; the first-class seats rotated and reclined.
The winding handles above each double-glazed window allowed venetian blinds between the panes to be lowered, raised and angled. Diffused lighting and air conditioning were innovative at the time. |
