If the perpendicular edges of a triangle have a length ratio of 2:1, we can enlarge it on a scale of √5 into a tiling of five elements congruent to the right triangle. √5 is also its hypotenuse length if its other edges measure 1 and 2.

Description
English:

If the perpendicular edges of a right triangle measure 1 and 2,  then we can compute its hypotenuse length by applying the Pythagorean theorem.  The image gives us another way to compute it.  A direct similarity that has a   and  in the image.

The area of each right triangle equals half an area of rectangle:

The area of the enlarged triangle is 5 times the area of the initial triangle,
