Summary[edit]
DescriptionInvitationHartfordBridgeDedicationProgramOfEvents1908.jpg |
English: Invitation for the dedication ceremony of the "Hartford Bridge" (later known as the Bulkeley Bridge) across the Connecticut River between Hartford and East Hartford, Connecticut. The archway bridge is still used as of 2008 (for Interstate 84). Not in the image, but included with the invitation, were two photographs, one of the 1818-1895 covered bridge, which had burned down, and another of the new bridge, with its distinctive arches (identifying it as the present Bulkeley Bridge). The envelope was addressed to "The Hon. Tyler Crittenden / Norwich, / Conn." (according to store Web page, "he was a state legislator for ct. at the time")Return address was to: "Edward W. Hooker / 88[?] Pearl St. / Hartford, Conn." The blue tinge was an attempt by the uploading editor to get a neutral tint; picture as originally seen at store Web page was a rather yellowed white, but increasing the contrast changed the tint, which was then adjusted this way |
