| Description |
English: Japanese Knotweed on the Trent and Mersey Canal, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. It's a lovely calm reflective scene on the canal today: red fruit on the rowans, the yellow of the ragwort.....and the white bloom of the rapidly spreading Japanese Knotweed! This highly invasive weed, which can reproduce and spread from a piece of root or stem just 2-3 cm long, is already invading the cemetery (behind this bank), and the canal will be transporting bits further south each time a lock is opened and a boat goes through. |
