English: 1st Thomas Jefferson stamp, Issue of 1856, imperforate.
Reprints of 1857 and 1861 have perforations.

Approximately 150,000 imperforate stamps and 2,310,000 perforated stamps
of the 5-cent Jefferson were printed by Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Co.[1]
Date -- Exact date of issue not known, earliest known use on postal cover is March 24, 1856 [2]
