Johachidolite
Johachidolite is a calcium aluminum borate and this specimen is an INCREDIBLE rarity of size and stature that makes it among the more important rare species specimens from this part of the world. Previously known as simply grains or masses and described based on those habits, these crystals when first found and identified (after being first thought to be clinohumite) redefined the species. A crystal of 1 cm would be considered stellar. This crystal, which I am told is the largest found with any degree of crystal faces and form to it, is perhaps the largest good example of the species known to the market. It was taken out years ago in a parcel of gem rough (before the embargo) by William Larson and has been in his collection since, until exchanged to me. Larson has what is certainly the finest reference colleciton of Burmese minerals, from his many travels there for the gem business, and has given large suites of them to many museums. However, this was the best ofspecies he had been able to obtain.
