Title
John T. Bryant letter to brother, 1864-01-09
Description
John T. Bryant was a member of Company K of the 15th Indiana regiment and in 1864 his unit was a part of the Army of the Cumberland. In this letter he mentions fighting at Missionary Ridge and having repeated encounters with General Longstreet, especially having to go to Nashville to bail out General Burnside and his army. Bryant talks about how lonely it is in camp and that he wants to join another fight as soon as he can but he also insists that he will not enlist for another three year period and will wait out his last five months and then return home. He mentions that it is very cold in the camp and that most of the men do not have adequate equipment, especially for camping in the winter.
