English: Josef Baum (* 14 June 1864 Úvaly at Český Brod - death between 1942 and 1945) was a successful meat wholesaler in Královské Vinohrady, he was the son of Hynek Baum and Antonia Baum, née Pederer. Josef Baum was the husband of Františka Baum (born 2 January 1876). Frantiska Baum was the daughter of Filip Fischl, a landowner in Nadějkov, and Rosalie Fischl, née Steiner. Josef and Františka Baum were the parents of the Czech zoologist, traveller and writer Jiří Baum (* 20 September 1900 Prague-Královské Vinohrady - January 1944 concentration camp in Warsaw) and his sister, participant of the Second Resistance Anna Pollertová, née Baumová (* 7 May 1899 Prague-Královské Vinohrady - 19 January 1945 Berlin-Plötzensee). Josef Baum and Františka Baumová became victims of the Holocaust. Together they were deported on 12 February 1942 to the Terezín ghetto on transport X (under numbers 347 and 348). From there, eight months later, they were sent by transport Bw on 19 October 1942 to the Treblinka extermination camp (under numbers 226 and 227), where they did not survive. The date of their death is uncertain, sometime between 1942 and 1945.
