Hier stand die Pfarrkirche

ST. LAURENZ

vielleicht hervorgegangen aus der Palastkapelle des spätantiken Praetoriums, im 10. Jahrhundert urkundlich erwähnt, im 12. Jahrhundert Bau einer größeren romanischen Kirche, im 15. Jahrhundert spätgotischer Umbau, 1803 Schließung der Kirche und Nutzung als Tabaklager, 1818 Abbruch.

Wertvolle Ausstattungsstücke (Altarbilder von Stefan Lochner, Dieric Bouts, Derick Bagaert u.a. sowie kostbare Glasmalereien) in den Museen von Köln, München, Frankfurt, Brüssel, New York und Cleveland.
