English: It is a "story play" genre of art, but one distinguished by the elaborately colorful make-up, costumes and face masks that the traditionally male actor-dancers wear. Kathakali is a Hindu performance art in the Malayalam-speaking southwestern region of India (Kerala).

Elle raconte l'histoire des épopées hindoues, le Mahabharata, le Ramayana et la vie de Krishna. Les hommes jouent aussi les rôles féminins.

I personaggi con i volti dipinti di colori accesi e con costumi elaborati rimandano alle storie epiche indù, tratte dal Mahabharatha e dal Rāmāyaṇa.
