Description
English: Khaab Foundation

The Khaab Foundation was founded in 2010 by reputed psychologist & social worker Mr Akash Pal, to reach out to the community at large to provide mental health awareness in Lucknow and surrounding areas. After much networking and advocacy with the government of Uttar Pradesh, it becomes the first open platform to talk about mental health and suffering. The trust began its activities by reaching people through the door to door visits and to talking with them about mental health and the importance of going for psychotherapy and contacting counsellors. Organizing workshops various at schools, colleges, corporate, government offices, hospitals on issues like the importance of mental health, anger & stress management, learning disabilities, alcohol and smoke addictions, work-life balance, child abuse and other disabilities and it soon became evident that the trust will have to work aggressively on the mental health and human rights of the community. In this phase of time many hospitals including King George's Medical University Lucknow & Nur Manzil Psychiatric Centre, Lucknow becomes part of the organization and collaborate in the initiatives.

In the last decades, the outreach programme has reached out to more than 500000 people through workshops, campaigns, webinars, training etc all over India and nearby countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal.

At present, Khaab Foundation has started nurturing Ruu. Ba. Buu Hypnosis & Psychological services to provide all the psychological interventions and become Uttar Pradesh’s first LGBTQ community-friendly platform for counselling and psychotherapy.

Apart from mental health Khaab Foundation also works for other social issues like providing educations, empowering women, reliving the local art and literature.

Khaab Foundation aims to make people aware of mental health importance and break the taboo of not speaking about it. Khaab Foundation tries to provide a non-judgemental platform for everyone belonging from any age, social-cultural background, religion, race and sexual orientation to receive psychological services.
