English: Western part of the Kocherpark park area, Bern, Switzerland. Deutsch: Blick auf die 1880 von Gabriel Rudolf Carl von Frisching (1831-1898), Mitinhaber des Bankhauses Gebrüder Bethmann in Frankfurt am Main, schweizerischer Konsul in Frankfurt am Main, in Bern, Schlösslistrasse 5, umgebaute und erweiterte Villa. Das ursprüngliche Gebäude wurde vermutlich im Jahre 1828 unter der Bauherrschaft von Gabriel Friedrich von Frisching (1762-1844), einst Präsident der Berner Stadtverwaltung errichtet. Die Liegenschaft kaufte später der berühmte Berner Chirurgen und Nobelpreisträgers Theodor Kocher, der sie als Gästehaus für das nebenan von ihm errichtete Kocherspital nutzte. Ab 1915 wurde die Villa als Botschaftsgebäude genutzt – bis 1922 hatte hier die türkische, von 1932 bis 1985 die rumänische Botschaft ihr Domizil. Johann Albert Kocher, der Sohn Theodor Kochers, vermachte die Villa nach seinem Tod 1941 der Burgergemeinde Bern. In seinem Testament bestimmte Kocher, dass die Villa «wenn immer tunlich» als Repräsentationshaus für Empfänge oder sonstige Anlässe der Burgergemeinde verwendet werden solle. Die Grünanlage sollte zu einem öffentlichen Park mit dem Namen Theodor-Kocher-Park ausgestaltet werden. |
