日本語: 小西軍の軍旗（旗印）の事だが、壬辰倭乱（文禄の役）時、朝鮮出兵で小西行長が使った軍旗は「白い地に赤い丸」の単純な日章旗であったとのことである。
今の日本の国旗と同じ模様のこの旗の由来には次のような話が伝わっている。 秀吉が小西行長と加藤清正に朝鮮出兵の先陣を言い渡した際、清正には「南無妙法蓮華経の軍旗」を、行長には「大黒の馬」を贈ったという。秀吉が退出した後で、清正は軍旗をチラつかせながら行長に言ったらしい。 「小西殿は、旗印はどのようにするつもりですか？」 この短い問いかけの中には数々の嫌味が詰まっていた。 自身の信仰する日蓮宗の旗を秀吉直々にもらった清正に対し、表立ってキリシタンとして活動できない行長は、清正のように自分の信仰する宗教を旗印にすることはできない。それをわかった上での旗自慢であった。 |
