Description
English: Kvitsøy lighthouse was built in 1829. Then, it was 18 m high with charcoal burners on top. In 1859 the tower was increased by a further 7 m and equipped with oil-fired fyrbluss and a lens system. The top of the lighthouse is now 45 m above sea level. In 1938 the lighthouse was electrified and automated in 1969. The lighthouse is listed. Kvitsøy guy has a history dating back to 1700. When put Henrich Petersen up a so-called vippefyr in Ydstebøhavn. The lighthouse consisted of a mast that was mounted on a transverse tilt. At the end of which was attached a "ildpanne" which was filled with burning coal and hunched hung 6 m above the ground.
