| Description |
English: 6229 was built in 1938 as the tenth streamlined ‘Coronation’. In December 1947 the streamline casing was removed for ease of maintenance. After withdrawal she was saved from scrapping by Sir Billy Butlin and was displayed at the Butlins Minehead Camp until 1975 when she was loaned to the NRM. Running again by 1980, she permanently joined the national collection and remained in mainline use until 1996, after which she was displayed statically at York. In late 2005 a rebuild to streamlined condition was started and was completed in 2009. She remains on display in fantastic streamlined condition.
