Title
The Education of the Virgin
Description
English: Painting of st. Anne and st. Joachim educating young Virgin Mary by workshop of Vicente López Portaña.

This painting is inspired by the work of the Sevillian painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, to which the image of st. Joachim was added. In it, we are referred to the episodes of Mary's childhood, transmitted through the apocrypha. Murillo's original idea was based on the fusion of realities: the family sphere of the Virgin with her mother, and a break of glory from which two angels emerge and proceed to crown the Virgin as a child.

The similarities with the work that concerns us are more than perceptible, being characteristic of the artist's baroque style, his treatment of colors, textures and the folds of the garments among others. He highlights the grace of the faces of st. Anne and the Virgin, in contrast to the old age of st. Joachim.
