Description
Français : La déroute et la confusion des jansénistes représente la condamnation de l’Augustinus et du mouvement janséniste par la bulle Cum occasione du pape Innocent X (gravure éditée en 1653 par Jean Ganière pour l’Almanach des Jésuites). Le pape, entouré de la Cour des cardinaux et des figures allégoriques de la Religion et de la Puissance de l'Eglise, brandit une épée flamboyante. Le jeune roi Louis XIV, secondé par les figures allégoriques de la Concorde, la Justice, la Piété et le zèle divin, chasse du royaume la Tromperie, l'Erreur, l'Ignorance, et Cornelius Jansen (représenté avec des ailes de chauves-souris dans le dos, en main l'Augustinus). Des Jansénistes courent se jeter dans les bras de Calvin dont les idées seraient proches.
