| Description |
English: Lawn on Janesmoor Plain, New Forest. This is typical of the heavily grazed lawn found on Janesmoor Plain, southwest of Fritham. There are occasional clumps of gorse, but otherwise it is a vast flat and grassy part of the forest and popular with ponies and cattle. The same conditions made it suitable for siting an RAF/USAF airfield (Stoney Cross) during the Second World War, and the area was re-seeded after the airfield was decommissioned in 1948. |
