Notes Au centre de la composition, évoluent trois personnages : une femme guidant un cheval qu'elle tient par la bride et un couple, un homme et une femme, installés de chaque côté d'un cacolet (selle disposant d'une assise d'un côté et de l'autre). S'agit-il de Blanche Feillet et de son fiancé Hennebutte sous le regard joyeux et amusé de sa soeur Hélène, auteur du dessin préparatoire à la lithographie, et de sa mise en couleur ? On peut le penser. Faut-il voir dans le sourire de la jeune femme à cheval, une connivence entre cette femme et l'auteur du dessin ? Le bonheur de la jeune femme amusée du regard amoureux porté sur elle ? Sa fierté face aux témoins que nous sommes ?
