Description

Outcrop of gray & maroon shales, dolomudstones, and fossiliferous limestones of the Leitchfield Formation, an Upper Mississippian unit. Limestone surfaces included brachiopod plates.

Stratigraphy: Leitchfield Formation, Chesterian Series, Upper Mississippian

Locality: Leitchfield South Outcrop - roadcut along the southern side of Western Kentucky Parkway, just west of exit 107 (= Route 259 exit), southernwestern side of Leitchfield, Kentucky, USA. (37° 27’ 45.72” North latitude, 86° 18’ 10.32” West longitude)
