| Description |
English: View of the Gorges of Termenet seen from the castle of Termes in the late afternoon (around 6pm). The rock in the middle is name "Le rocher du Termenet" and there was a fortification on it in medieval times. During the siege of Termes in 1210, the crusaders of Simon the Montfort attacked this fort, and after having taken it, they came closer on this side, to use a trebuchet against the defenders.
Français : Vue sur les Gorges du Termenet depuis le château de Termes (le regard va globalement en direction du nord, le soleil étant en train de se coucher à l'ouest). Juste avant la faille que constitue les gorges, se dégage l'extrémité de la crête qui descend depuis le château. Le rocher qui se dégage ainsi est nommé "rocher du Termenet". Il portait au moyen âge un fortin annexe au château, qui permettait de contrôler l'accès à l'eau des sources dans les gorges. Son attaque, sa prise, et les combats autour du mangonneau amené sur cette crête par les croisés sont des étapes importantes du long siège de Termes mené par les croisés de Simon de Montfort en 1210. |
