Description

Liart (Ardennes, France) -
Le Monument-aux-morts se dresse juste devant l'église.
Le soldat est représenté dans une attitude assez curieuse, hésitant entre la piété, le recueillement (mains jointes avec doigts croisés) et la décontraction (hanche appuyée contre la stèle et jambes croisées). Mais peut-être s'agissait-il pour le sculpteur d'évoquer le repos du poilu et/ou la confiance dans le bien-fondé de son sacrifique pour la patrie !...


A droite, on remarque le clocheton de l'hôtel-de-ville.
