Description
Deutsch: 1: Tannhäuser.
Der Minnesinger »Tanhuser«, der um die Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts ein abenteuerliches Wanderleben führte, verfasste auch ein Busslied. Hieran knüpfte sich die Sage vom Ritter Tannhäuser, der durch sein Weilen im Venusberg (auch Hörselberg genannt, Aufenthalt der heidnischen Göttin Hertha), eine schwere Todsünde beging, die selbst der Papst nicht vergeben zu können erklärte, »so wenig der Stab in seiner Hand sich wieder schmücke mit frischem Grün« - und als der Bussfertige verzweifelnd in den Venusberg zurückgekehrt war, grünte der Stab! - Wagner verband den alten Sagenstoff mit einem Sängerwettstreit auf der Wartburg.
