In het meest rechter pand, Lijnbaansgracht 208-209, was de Boek- en Handelsdrukkerij S.J.P. Bakker van verzetsstrijder Stephanus Johannes Paul Bakker (1900-1945) gevestigd. Paul Bakker drukte daar grote hoeveelheden illegaal drukwerk: de bladen Vrij Nederland en Trouw, brochures, pamfletten en gedichten. Paul Bakker en zijn werknemers Jan Overeem, Johan de Jonge, Gerrit Cornelis Stapel, Jacob Izaak de Haan en Wim Speelman, oprichter en voorman van Trouw, werden 29 januari 1945 gearresteerd en op 9 februari 1945 op de loswal van de Prins Hendrikkade in Zaandam gefusilleerd. |
