Summary[edit]

Description
English: Lombard fibulae from the grave field of Romans d'Isonzo
  • Province of Gorizia, Region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy

The grave field comprises 245 body burials excavated to date. The necropolis was used by both the Romanic people and the Lombards. The Romanic burials date broadly from the 5th to the 7th centuries. The Romanic grave inventories consist primarily of individual objects such as knives or combs that were not intended as grave goods but as garment components.

The richly endowed Lombard graves date from the late 6th century to the middle of the 7th century.

Grave 97 Richly endowed woman's grave with typical Lombard four-fibula garb consisting of one S-shaped fibula and one pair of bowed fibulae.
1. Silver bowed fibulae, fire-gilded.

  • Photographed while on display from 22 August 2008 to 11 January 2009 in the exhibition "Die Langobarden. Das Ende der Völkerwanderung" at the Rheinisches LandesMuseum Bonn. On loan from the Soprintendenza per I Beni Archeologici Trieste.
Deutsch: Langobardische Fibeln vom Gräberfeld von Romans d'Isonzo
  • Provinz Gorizia, Region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italien

1. Silberne Bügelfibeln, feuervergoldet.

  • Exponate in der Ausstellung „Die Langobarden. Das Ende der Völkerwanderung“ vom 22.08.2008-11.01.2009 im Rheinischen LandesMuseum Bonn. Leihgaben vom Soprintendenza per I Beni Archeologici Trieste.
