Summary[edit]

Description
English: To the left in this display case, a Lombard woman's grave goods from the grave field of Velkė Pavlovice (second half of the 5th to second half of the 6th century)
  • District of Břeclav, Southern Moravia, Czech Republic

Up to now, 22 burials, some of them robbed, have been opened up in the Lombard grave field of Velké Pavlovice. In this robbed woman's grave (Grave 9, second half of the 6th century), the pouch-shaped vessel is particularly characteristic, since there are numerous analogs in Lower Austria, western Hungary, and Italy.

1. Pouch-shaped slipware ceramic vessel turned on a potter's wheel and decorated.
2. Silver belt tip.
3. Bead of thin gold foil with filigree wire overlay.

To the right in this display case, grave goods from Lombard warrior's grave of Oblekovice (6th century)

  • District of Znojmo, Czech Republic

This destroyed warrior's grave yielded, among other things, a ribbed bowl for which there are numerous parallels in central Germany, Lower Austria, and western Hungary. Widespread among the Lombards, this vessel form is clearly connected to Elbe Germanic ware.

1. Ribbed bowl with single-segmented upper part.
2. Iron lance tip.

  • Photographed while on display from 22 August 2008 to 11 January 2009 in the exhibition "Die Langobarden. Das Ende der Völkerwanderung" at the Rheinisches LandesMuseum Bonn. The woman's grave goods were on loan from the Moravské zemské muzeum Archeologický ústav, Brünn, Czech Republic. The warrior's grave goods were on loan from the Jihomoravskė muzeum ve Znojmě, Znojmo, Czech Republic.

Jahrhundert)

  • Bezirk Znojmo, Tschechische Republik

1. Rippenschale mit eingliedrigem Oberteil.
2. Eiserne Lanzenspitze.

  • Exponate in der Ausstellung „Die Langobarden. Das Ende der Völkerwanderung“ vom 22.08.2008-11.01.2009 im Rheinischen LandesMuseum Bonn. Die Frauenbeigaben sind Leihgaben vom Moravské zemské muzeum Archeologický ústav, Brünn, Tschechische Republik. Die Kriegerbeigaben sind Leihgaben vom Jihomoravskė muzeum ve Znojmě, Znojmo, Tschechische Republik.
