Summary[edit]

Description
English: Long Eaton 2nd railway station (site), Derbyshire
Opened in 1847 by the Midland Railway on what is today the line from Leicester to Trowell and Sheffield, this opening of this station caused the name of the first station to be changed to "Long Eaton Junction - see SK5032 : Long Eaton 1st railway station (site), Derbyshire. This station closed in 1863 when it was replaced by a new one some 500m behind the camera position. See SK4933 : Long Eaton 3rd railway station (site), Derbyshire. View north towards Stapleford & Sandiacre, Trowell and Sheffield. Even though this is the most direct route between Leicester and Sheffield, nearly all trains go via Derby or Nottingham. When the station was open, there were just two tracks here with the road crossing the railway by a level crossing.
