| Description |
English: A long line of hungry customers waits at the counter of the Arby's location at the Scottsville Service Area along the New York State Thruway at lunchtime on an August 2021 afternoon. The previous month, the New York State Thruway Authority kicked off a $450 million Service Area Modernization Project which would see all of the 27 such areas along the Thruway extensively redeveloped with a long list of updated amenities. The first phase of the project entailed the closure of 10 Thruway service areas (in a staggered pattern to ensure that consecutive rest stops in a given direction would never be closed down at the same time), which had led to long lines and crowded conditions such as this at those service areas that remain open. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2025. |
