Summary[edit]

Description
English: Longhorse Bridge has gone I never crossed the footbridge which used to cross the Trent at this point. It's been gone at least two years. On the Explorer sheet 250 that I had at that time it is still there, but I notice that it is gone on Get-a-Map now.

Early footpath closure notices explained that there is planned a replacement bridge a few hundred yards upstream, the current ones give the closure period as until 2nd December 2008 or until the erection of a replacement bridge. As there is no sign of any work being undertaken on a new bridge I expect that come December the period will just be extended again.

It's a pity that this one has gone, as the view from it must have been quite spectacular, surrounded as one would have been by the waters of the Trent to the South and East, The Trent and Mersey Canal to the West and the Mouth of the Derwent to the North.
