| Description |
English: Looking east along a rocky ridge with mounds. The narrow rocky ridge shown here follows the line of an old drove road leading to a former cattle enclosure (see e.g. 1043828); the ridge has a number of small mounds along its length (the shadows cast by the low sun make them quite noticeable in this photograph). Its steeper northern side is undercut in several places, the result of small-scale quarrying.
This is a view east along the length of the ridge, which also extends a slightly shorter distance to the west from this point. For a view of the westward part of the ridge from the same location, see: 1051475. The body of water that is prominent in the left-hand side of the photograph is Carman Reservoir. On the skyline in the right-hand side of the photograph is the escarpment that marks the edge of the Kilpatrick Hills. The houses of Bellsmyre nestle near the foot of the hills at the extreme right. |
