Description
English: Photograph of Lord Hardinge's statue and the Ochterlony Monument, from 'Views of Calcutta and Barrackpore' taken in the 1860s by Samuel Bourne. This view across Calcutta's Maidan shows J. H. Foley's equestrian statue of Lord Hardinge, Governor-General of India (1844-1848). In the background is the monument to Sir David Ochterlony, the victor of the Anglo-Nepalese War of 1814-1816, since renamed the Shahid Minar, and dedicated to Indian martyrs.
