Summary[edit]
DescriptionLothian Buses' Annandale Street Garage - geograph.org.uk - 2625947.jpg |
English: As proclaimed by the huge sign, this is Central garage of Lothian Buses, seen during the 2011 open day. This is the east end of the south shed, which faces Annandale Street but is set back from it behind the staff car park (which at some point was expanded with the demolition of a neighbouring industrial building - Bathroom Planet). The south shed was built up against the south side of the older and larger main shed, which is out of shot to the right. The multiple doors at this end indicate what's inside this section - the workshop/inspection pits. The gold and red squares logo and bold red typeface dates back to the relaunch of the company's livery and branding in 1999 with the introduction of low-floor buses. By this time however it's well out of date - on March 2010 the company announced it was returning to the traditional madder & white colours, albeit updated, with a modernised 'Lothianbuses.com' identity. As seen in this shot however, 18 months on and both the signage and a number of the buses had yet to be updated - only the single decker (a Volvo B7RLE/Wrightbus Eclipse Urban) has been repainted in this shot. The blue bus on the far left is one of those used on the airport route, which were themselves also relaunched in March 2010 with this new livery, on brand new Volvo B9TL /Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini 2's. |
