Summary[edit]
DescriptionLouth Ridge (16807472897).jpg |
Once the snow has gone, the natural landscape emerges. However, most landscapes are shaped by the cycles of the seasons. Spring runoff carries away with it soil from higher levels leaving the ground forever changed. Mountains are shaped, valleys are carved, plains are spread. In contrast, sometimes the seasons work towards returning the landscape to its original state. A pile of earth placed by machines is slowly eroded and the earth spread out to become as flat as it was prior to the earth being placed in a pile. We can however imagine for a moment that we are hiking in the heat of the desert, longing for some momentary shade from a mountain ridge from late afternoon sun. It is a short daydream, as we must get to work on time. |
