PLEASE, NO invitations or self promotions, THEY WILL BE DELETED. My photos are FREE to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks. Between 1802 and 1804, under the reign of Napoleon I, a nine-arch metallic bridge for pedestrians was constructed at the location of the present day Pont des Arts (also called "Locks of Love" bridge): this was the first metal bridge in Paris. In June 2014, part of the parapet of the 492-foot iron bridge collapsed under the weight of all of the padlocks that had been attached to it. |
