These vases to serve the wine show episodes of the Trojan War as told in the Iliad of Homer. On the second oinochoe, with in the background the crenellated walls of Troy, two scenes : Achilles, on a chariot pulled by two galloping horses, drags Hector's body under the frightened eyes of his family; then died of Achilles, the heel pierced by an arrow, and protected by Ajax. |
