Description
English: Tomb of Godzimir and Marcela Malachowski. (Godzimir Małachowski of Nałęcz (1852-1908) was a Polish lawyer and university professor. An heir of the powerful Małachowski family, he was also a member of the Austro-Hungarian parliament, the Galicia Diet[1] and one of the best-known presidents of the city of Lwów (modern Lviv, Ukraine). During his presidency (1897-1905) the city was expanded significantly. Also, Małachowski sponsored numerous new facilities, such as the Grand Theatre, monument to Adam Mickiewicz[2] and the monument to John III of Poland (after the annexation of Lwów by the Soviet Union the monument was moved to Wrocław (Wikipedia).
Polski: Grobowiec Godzimira i Marcelii Małachowskich. (Godzimir Małachowski – urodzony 31 października 1852r. we Lwowie. Gimnazjum oraz studia prawnicze odbył we Lwowie. Po studiach na krótko związał się z sądownictwem, po czym otworzył we Lwowie kancelarię adwokacką. Po śmierci teścia adwokata Tarnawieckiego przejął jego kancelarię, która uchodziła za jedną z najlepszych w mieście. W 1896r. po śmierci Edmunda Mochnackiego oraz rezygnacji prof. Leonarda Piętaka został wybrany prezydentem miasta Lwowa. Jako prezydent Lwowa przeprowadził najważniejsze dla miasta inwestycje, wybudowano w tym czasie m. in. wodociągi, rzeźnie miejską, zaś z obiektów kulturalnych nowy teatr i muzeum przemysłowe. W okresie jego prezydentury odbyło się we Lwowie odsłonięcie w 1898r. pomnika króla Jana Sobieskiego oraz w 1904r. Adama Mickiewicza. Oba te pomniki powstały dzięki osobistemu wsparciu finansowemu prezydenta Małachowskiego. Był posłem Sejmu Krajowego, zaś w 1904r. z ramienia lwowskiej Izby Handlowej wszedł do Rady Państwa. Aktywnie uczestniczył w pracach Towarzystw: Prawniczego oraz Muzycznego we Lwowie. Przez kilka lat pełnił również obowiązki prezesa Towarzystwa Pedagogicznego. Zmarł w Wiedniu 23 czerwca 1908r. na skutek komplikacji po przebytej operacji woreczka żółciowego, którą wykonał prof. Hohenegg. (http://kancelariajaroslaw.pl/adwokaci_galicyjscy.html)
