Description
English: The first publication was 11 Jan. 1851 from a small office in Norwich Quay, Lyttelton. Since then it shifted twice until the need for expansion had seen the paper set up here in Cathedral Square, Christchurch. Shown here is the portion of the company's building which was erected in 1862. The five-storey building in the background, with frontage to Gloucester Street, was constructed in 1884. The building on the right is Warner's Hotel, which was constructed in 1901 or 1902.
