| Description |
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus and Cambridge, from the observation deck of Prudential Tower in Boston. The main buildings front on the Charles River Basin, at the right. Harvard Bridge crosses the Charles River. It continues as Massachusetts Avenue, which takes a half-left and leads to the center of Cambridge and Harvard University. The green area in the background is the Harvard campus and nearby leafy residential areas. I attended MIT from September 1954 to January 1956. Burton House, where I lived during my first semester at MIT, is at the far left, along Memorial Drive and the Charles River. The white structure behind it is an indoor tennis facility, apparenlty air supported, Baker House is next, then some fraternity houses, and Graduate House. I lived in Senior House, in the area known as East Campus, during the rest of my time at MIT. It is off the picture to the right. Graduate House has since been replaced. I do not remember any fraternity houses on the Cambridge side of the river when I was at MIT. |
